BACKGROUND
Brooklyn Heights Church is a young church in old architecture. Located in the historic, greater DUMBO area, this side of the river is turning over quickly as it welcomes a fresh wave of artsy, hardworking millennials.
PROBLEM
Although a 100 year old church, the congregation is youthful and dynamic in the energetic city of New York. The archaic visuals no longer accurately represented their brand community.
SOLUTION
In the most commercialized city in the world, simple and straightforward messaging is an uncompromisable necessity. The pictorial mark is a bold silhouette of the Brooklyn Bridge. It can also be interpreted as the Ten Commandments or doorways through which one enters a castle. The kingdom-like architecture points to the heavenly kingdom language in religion.
The green color usage is rooted in tradition with a spark of emphasis with the vibrant blue. While the congregation is undergoing a transition in age demographic, the colors enable the church to hold a flexible, forward-thinking vision. As church culture and thus brand changes, the colors can easily support the tone of the church in the ever-changing city of New York.
